Canon point

I initially played Jack in an AU where he didn't meet Lureen, finding job elsewhere as a bartender, before trying to get together with Ennis properly. If we're going by movie canon, I'd rather have Jack being played from a point prior to that godawful moustance, before things got too complicated. Perhaps even a pre-Lureen point. Since coming here I have played him as an "out-of-time" character, i.e. still from the 60's but transferred to modern times. Similar to Captain America in a way (which was unintended).

History

Jack's originally from Lightning's Flat where he grew up at his dad's ranch. He quickly picked up rodeo, even winning a championship prior to the movie. He got a job as a seasonal worker up at Brokeback Mountain Ranch in Wyomming where he met Ennis Del Mar. They quickly got closer. Jack did admit that he had an extramarital relationship with a rancher's wife. However it was hinted that he's in fact had a relationship with the rancher. As the boys grew closer, they fell in love aswell as having sex. Despise Ennis being reculant to admitting his feelings. Their relationship wasn't accepted back in those times either and as they got caught by the rancher things went bad. In addition to the weather worsening they were forced down from the mountain, getting their sheep mixed up with Mexican sheep in the process and losing some. Following the end of the summer they lost contact for 2 years, during which time Ennis and Jack got married. However Jack wasn't happy in his relationship with Lureen, neither does her father like him as he pretty much knocked her up. Ennis and Alma seemed happy however their relationship went sour. As Ennis and Jack reunited, Alma saw them which lead to her divorcing Ennis and taking their two daughters.

For the following 10 years Ennis and Jack met up at the mountains to fish and make love. However Ennis never managed to admit or go for Jack, being too scared. This lead to their relationship eventually falling apart.

In the end, Jack got killed. Supposedly by accident however Ennis imagined a far worse fate for him. What he had lost finally dawned on Ennis. It broke him but also made him stronger, coming out of his fluke and start living. He got closer to one of his daughters and lived out his life. Alone supposedly.

It was also revealed in the end that Jack's dream was to take over his dad's ranch together with a male neighbor rancher. Supposedly Ennis.

Personality

Jack is good natured and quick to a smile or a joke. He's easygoing however the weight of family life eventually forced him to mature and take a stand against his father-in-law. Jack's emotional but strong until things gets too far. Then he breaks either in tears or anger. He's loyal and actually a decent salesman, working his way through the company. He's idealistic, maybe even a bit naive. Unlike Ennis though, he wears his heart on his sleeve. As a rodeo rider he has a strong-will but he also enjoys a bit too much drink.

He doesn't let fear control him.

Appearance

Jack's of average height and build. He has black hair and blue eyes. He also have extensive side-burns. He often wear a typical cowboy hat and prefers darker colors.

Abilities

Jack's in every way an average human. He can handle a gun however he isn't good at it. However he's brilliant with throwing lasso and can throw punches if things gets heated. As a rodeo rider I imagine he has a great amount of self-control and a strong will.

He's trying to live up to the Western cowboy archtype even if he has mostly deal with sheep and bulls.

Ongoing storyline: Import from Twitter

Jack returned to Texas after a long and heartbreaking trip. After he had settled down at his friend's place again. He begun to start looking for work again. It went several days without him finding anything and he realized he had to face unemployment until the summer. But then an old colleague of his told him that a rodeo up in Wyoming was looking for riders. The rodeo would take place during early early summer so there was a couple of months away. But despise that he sought the job and a few weeks later he got a call that he had got got it. So he prepared himself. There was also the little possibility that he might see wyoming_cowboy and he savored it.
